How Matt credits work

Reading included library lessons uses no Matt credits. Credits apply when Matt creates a new answer for you.

Short text answer: 10 creditsUp to 1,500 characters
Standard text answer: 25 creditsUp to 6,000 characters
Long text answer: 60 creditsOver 6,000 characters

Audio uses 1 Matt credit per 50 narration characters, rounded up. These examples show how answer size and narration size combine:

Short lesson: about 50 creditsSee Variables — about 1,402 visible characters (10 text credits); its recorded narration is about 1,970 characters (40 audio credits). 10 + 40 = 50.
Website project: about 115 creditsSee Flask Website — about 4,037 visible characters (25 text credits); its recorded narration is about 4,457 characters (90 audio credits). 25 + 90 = 115.
Long answer illustration: 190 creditsA new 6,500-character answer would use 60 text credits. If 6,500 characters were narrated, audio would use 130 credits. 60 + 130 = 190. This is longer than the Flask Website project above.

Opening these saved lessons uses no credits. Their published lengths are examples, not a promise of what a new answer will cost. Matt shows a quote before you send; the final audio charge uses the narration actually generated.

You may cancel monthly renewal and keep access through your paid-through date. Unused credits are unavailable after access ends.
